- Thank you 4 visiting our blog. Sales of John's recent artworks have been selling well on ebay and thru direct corporate marketing. I have known the artist W.John Thorpe for more than 20 years. While helping him clean out his attic last year I came across 3 scraperboard images dating back to 1977. On enquiring of him who had produced them he proudly admitted that he had. Not believing him, I scoffed and challenged him to produce a new one of my choice. The result was the MADIBA image which is the very best portrait on Nelson Mandela I have ever seen in any medium, be it in oil, pencil.charcoal whatever. I just cannot believe that such a talented artist has not produced any new work for more than 20 years. Needless to say I am keeping him busy producing new works while I build up his portfolio and profile.
